The year was 1994 I took over roasting plant tours for Tom Walters at the Seattle Roasting Plant. I was giving a tour to a sweet couple and when we stopped at the roasters to show them the roasting progression the guy got down on one knee and proposed ! he had a "ring" he made out of coffee beans. He promised to get her a real ring soon. They met at a Starbucks ad he thought it was only fitting to propose at the place where their cups of coffee started.
